Collaboration with local designer and business owner Amy of The New Red

Puparrel is excited to be collaborating with local Gippsland designer and creative Amy, owner of the business The New Red for this mini release of the Simply Botanic design!

I first met Amy at the Thorpdale Potato festival earlier this year (2023) when she wandered into my market stall. She was wearing such a beautiful skirt and I had to say something! I told her that I loved her skirt and she responded with the response that any proud sewist would say "thanks I made it myself!". I went on to comment on the fact that I really loved the design of the fabric and to my surprise she said "thanks I designed it myself!" We had a quick chat and she let me know about her business The New Red and after checking out her page I thought to myself, how amazing would it be to work in collaboration and showcase Amy's beautiful design on my products! I reached out to her on Instagram and thats how this collaboration came to be.

I'm super excited about this collaboration because one of my goals for Puparrel is to make connections with my community, and what better way to do this than to collaborate with another local business owner and creative from my community! I am so excited to be able to showcase Amy's beautiful design on my products and help to promote another business in doing so.

I asked Amy to tell me a bit about herself as I want to share more about the artist behind the beautiful design.

So here is a little about Amy, from Amy:

"Amy Jane

33 years old.

Gippsland local.

Animal lover, collector of dogs, occasional foster mum.

Role model to three small humans.

Partner to one regular size human.

Mental health advocate,

sharing my crazy to help the crazy of others.

Lover of clean spaces, unable to keep things clean.

Colour enthusiast.

Fashion addict.

Recovering perfectionist,

creator of quality items."

I also asked Amy to provide some info about her inspiration for the design and this is what she said:

"Simply Botanic

Always a lover of floral design, Simply Botanic was the first design that I was able to pair back.

Enjoy the use of negative space. Let the colours and shaped speak for themselves.

It is colourful, but not bright. Floral, but not girly. Detailed, but not busy.

The perfect balance, that's Simply Botanic."

I hope everyone loves this design as much as I do, its such a special set! By purchasing from this collection you are not only supporting two local Gippsland businesses - Puparrel and The New Red, but are also helping to contribute towards a donation for local Gippsland animal rescue group Grounded Paws Animal Rescue.
